Sejarah nagreg sendiri tak mungkin lepas dari masa penjajahan belanda dan jepang. Pada zaman penjajahan, wilayah nagreg ini digunakan sebagai lahan perkebunan yang dimana hasilnya disimpan di tempat tersembunyi di sekitar SMP 17 nagreg. Pendapat ini diikuti dengan adanya dua buah cerobong yang ditemukan di desa kendan. Hanya saja sekarang cerobong asap tersebut hanya tersisa satu, yang lainnya sudah roboh karena dimakan usia. Menurut penduduk setempat, cerobong asap ini dulunya adalah tempat pematangan hasil dari perkebunan.
