Sesuai dengan kompetensi yang telah disebutkan, idealnya siswa SMP kelas VIII sudah mampu menuliskan berbagai teks yang didalamnya terdapat struktur teks, karkteristik teks,dan langkah retorika dari teks itu yaitu seperti deskriptive dan narrative teks. Mereka seharusya sudah memiliki kemampuan menulis yang lebih meningkat dibandingkan mereka masih beada disekolah dasar yaitu mulai dari menuliskan kata-kata meningkat menjadi menuliskan sebuah kalimat yang akhirnya menjadi sebuah teks. Sebagaimana kita ketahui bahwa siswa sudah belajar Bahasa inggris sejak berada di sekolah dasar.
