8) Storage in vacuo in Fosfopentaoksida Gas
Storage techniques are also called Sordelli techniques, as first discovered by Sordelli (Lapage et al., 1970). Microbial cultures stored in horse serum is placed in a small glass tube or ampoule. The tube is placed inside another larger tube containing a little fosfopentaoksida (P2O5) and stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator. This technique is suitable for long-term storage of bacteria, yeasts, and fungi. The microbes can survive well over 5-28 years, depending on the strain of microbes stored.
