Selain mengikuti langkah-langkah serta kaidah penyusunan soal, hal lain yang perlu diperhatikan untuk dapat menghasilkan soal yang baik adalah syarat dalam penyusunan soal. Adapun syarat penyusunan soal meliputi :
• Soal-soal atau pertanyaan yang dibuat harus menanyakan tentang ilmu/materi/konsep/teori/pengetahuan yang telah dipelajari;
• Soal disusun mengikuti kaidah penyusunan soal;
• Penulis soal harus menguasai ilmu yang akan dituliskan soalnya;
• Penulis soal mengetahui adanya ragam/jenis/bentuk soal beserta keunggulan dan kelemahannya;
• Penulis soal paham akan kaidah penulisan soal untuk berbagai bentuk soal;
• Penulis soal paham bahwa soal yang ditanyakan berhubungan langsung dengan penskoran sehingga diperoleh penilaian yang objektif.
