Melon berasal dari daerah Mediteran

Melon berasal dari daerah Mediterania yang merupakan perbatasan antara Asia Barat dengan Eropa dan Afrika. Pada abad ke-14 melon dibawa ke Amerika oleh Colombus dan akhirnya ditanam luas di Colorado, California, dan Texas. Akhirnya melon tersebar ke seluruh penjuru dunia terutama di daerah tropis dan subtropis termasuk Indonesia.

In the 14th century melon was brought to America by Columbus and finally planted widely in Colorado, California, and Texas. Finally the melons are spread all over the world mainly in tropical and subtropical areas including Indonesia.
