Menurut Centers for disease control and prevention (2014), bayi berusia 9 bulan sudah mengalami banyak perkembangan dari berbagai aspek. Dari aspek sosial dan emosional, bayi punya mainan kesukaannya, bayi sudah kenal dekat keluarganya dan takut terhadap orang asing.

Dari aspek komunikasi dan berbahasa, bayi berusia Sembilan bulan mengerti arti kata “tidak”, membuat suara seperti “mamamama” dan “babababa”, meniru tingkalh laku dan suara orang lain, dan menggunakan jari untuk menunjuk sesuatu.

Dari segi kognitif, bayi sudah bisa bermain peek a boo, menaruh sesuatu ke dalam mulutnya, memindahkan barang dari tangan ke tangan yang lain dengan perlahan, terarik terhadap hal yang disembunyikan orang lain, dan bisa menggunakan 2 jari untuk mengambil barang kecil yaitu menggunakan jari telunjuk dan ibu jari.

Dari segi fisik, bayi sudah bisa merangkak, duduk tanpa bantuan orang lain, berdiri dan bertahan, mengerti posisi duduk, dan dapat menarik agar bisa berdiri.
