Data sekunder didapatkan dari data pada instansi terkait, laporan, jurnal atau hasil penelitian lainnya. Data sekuder tersebut adalah karateristik wilayah studi, kependudukan, institusi pengelola sampah, cakupan dan tingkat pelayanan sampah, timbulan sampah, aset pengelolaan sampah, dan pembiayaan operasional harian kendaraan. Data primer didapatkan melalui pengamatan langsung dan wawancara. Data primer tersebut adalah rute dan waktu perjalanan, kapasitas kontainer, konsumsi bahan bakar dan oli kendaraan, lokasi kontaier, dan lokasi garasi kendaraan. Data primer dipergunakan untuk melakukan perhitungan kecepatan kendaraan, perhitungan waktu kendaraan dan perhitungan jarak tempuh kendaraan. Evaluasi rute menggunakan programa linier dilakukan dengan menyusun tabel transportasi untuk meminimalisasi waktu tempuh kendaraan. Evaluasi pengangkutan menggunakan programa linier dilakukan dengan menyusun persamaan linier untuk memaksimalkan volume sampah terangkut dengan batasan waktu operasioanl, biaya operasioanl, dan jumlah timbulan sampah.
