Diriwayatkan dari Ibnu Umar, Rasulu

Diriwayatkan dari Ibnu Umar, Rasulullah SAW bersabda: Sesungguhnya masa menetap kamu dibandingkan dengan umat-umat yang telah berlalu adalah seperti jarak waktu antara salat Ashar hingga terbenamnya matahari (HR. Imam Bukhari). Menurut Ibnu Rajab, “umat-umat yang telah berlalu” itu adalah umat Nabi Musa AS (Yahudi) dan umat Nabi Isa AS (Nasrani).
Imam Ibnu Rajab Al Hanbali meletakkan keseluruhan masa dunia adalah seperti satu hari penuh dengan siang dan malamnya. Imam Ibnu Rajab Al Hanbali menjadikan waktu umat-umat terdahulu dari masa Nabi Adam hingga Nabi Musa seperti waktu satu malam dan waktu itu adalah 3000 tahun. Kemudian beliau menjadikan masa umat-umat yahudi, nasrani dan Islam adalah seperti waktu siang dari hari tersebut, maka berarti waktu itu juga 3000 tahun.
Imam Ibnu Rajab Al Hanbali menafsirkan hadis Bukhari lainnya bahwa masa-masa amaliah umat Nabi Musa AS hingga datangnya Nabi Isa AS seperti setengah hari pertama, dan masa amaliah umat Isa adalah seperti waktu salat Zuhur hingga salat Ashar, dan masa amaliah umat Islam adalah seperti sesudah salat Ashar hingga terbenamnya matahari.
Jadi perhitungan menurut Ibnu Rajab itu sebagai berikut:
• Masa umat-umat Adam hingga Musa = satu malam penuh = 3000 tahun
• Masa umat-umat (yahudi – nasrani – Islam) = satu siang penuh = 3000 tahun
• Umur Yahudi = setengah hari dari siang tersebut = ½ dari 3000 = 1500 tahun
• Umur Nasrani = mengikuti hadis Muslim dari Salman al Farisi yaitu = 600 tahun
Maka umur umat Islam adalah 1500 – 600 = 900 tahun. Kemudian 900 tahun ini ditambahkan lagi 500 tahun (setengah hari akhirat) (lihat: hadits dari Saad bin Abu Waqash riwayat Abu Dawud).
Thus, umur Islam adalah 900 + 500 = 1400 tahun, belum termasuk tambahan tahun. Namun beliau tidak menyebut berapa tahun tambahannya.
Perhitungan ini sama dengan method yang digunakan oleh Ibnu Hajar.

• Jewish Age = half a day of the day = ½ of the 3000 = 1500 years
• Age Nasrani = follow Hadith Muslims of Salman the Pharisees that year
