Kondisi social pada saat itu sangat tidak manusiawi untuk anak-anak. Karena anak-anak pada saat itu harus bekerja keras sehingga mereka merasakan penderitaan hidup yang sangat menyakitkan pada usia mereka yang masih kecil. Mereka butuh kasih sayang dan perlindungan, tapi pada saat itu anak-anak tidak mendapatkan hak-hak mereka. Pada saat itu anak-anak seperti menerima penyiksaan dari penguuasa bangsa mereka. Tidak ada satu orang pun yang bisa memahami keadaan mereka. Orang-orang dewasa, orang-orang kaya, raja, pendeta, dan pemerintah tidak peduli dengan keadaan mereka yang sangat memprihatinkan.
Dalamusia mereka yang masih kecil, seharusnya mereka merasakan kebahagiaan seperti anak-anak lain,tapi pada masa itu anak-anak tiddak merasakannya, karena mereka dipaksa untuk bekerja. Bahkan mereka tidak diberi kesempatan untuk bermain-main menikmati indahnya alam. Mereka hanya harus bekerja dan terus bekerja, seolah-olah pekerjaan itu adalah kewajiban mereka.

Even they are not given the chance to play around enjoying the beauty of nature. They just have to work and continue to work, as if it is their obligation.
