Indonesia negara dengan luas 1,904,569 km2 , terdiri lebih dari 17.000 pulau, 34 propinsi dan dengan jumlah penduduk sekitar 255 juta, dengan jumlah penduduk yang sedemikian besar dan juga banyaknya pulau maka sangat dibutuhkan transportasi yang baik dan memadai. untuk menghubungkan antara 1 pulau ke pulau lainnya membutuhkan waktu yang agak lama bahkan untuk beberapa pulau harus ditempuh dengan pesawat dan membutuhkan beberapa hari. Permasalahan infrastruktur dan transportasi adalah masalah klasik yang sudah terjadi begitu lama, permasalahan ini pun menimbulkan banyak polemik permasalahan dan berimbas ke berbagai sector yang paling terimbas adalah sector perekonomian, bagaimana Indonesia dapat meningkatkan pendapatan daerah melalui jalur pariwisata jika transportasi dan infrastrukturnya tidak memadai, kita tidak akan bisa menarik wisatawan local ataupun internasional, bagaimana kita akan menumbuhkan perekonomian kecil di beberapa provinsi jika biaya distribusinya saja sudah mahal dan berimbas ke harga penjualan yang tinggi. Permasalahan lain yang banyak terjadi di kota-kota besar di Indonesia saat ini adalah kemacetan khususnya ibu kota Indonesia yaitu jakarta, baru-baru ini ada viral di social media mengenai video seorang pengendara mobil yang mengamuk dan menyerang petugas polisi dikarenakan terkena tilang oleh polisi tersebut akibat ingin memasuki jalur busway (Trans Jakarta), hal ini disebabkan karena pengendara tersebut melanggar peraturan lalu-lintas, karena ingin cepat sampai ditujuan dan pada saat itu seperti biasanya kondisi lalu-lintas sangat macet. apa yang dilakukan oleh pengendara tersebut adalah salah satu contoh puncak kejenuhan dari masyarakat atas kondisi kemacetan di Jakarta, kemacetan bukanlah sesuatu hal yang baru yang terjadi di Jakarta, ini adalah hal yang memang terjadi setiap hari pada lalu-lintas di Jakarta, persoalan lalu-lintas seperti saat ini memang dapat menjadi pemicu konflik karena kecemasan yang secara terus menerus dapat meledak. Pertikaian antar sesama pengguna jalan dan juga antar petugas kepolisian dengan pengguna jalan. kemacetan yang terjadi harus secepatnya di selesaikan oleh pemerintah, penyelesaian ini dapat dilakukan dengan membenahi sistem sekaligus membangun kesadaran dari para pengguna jalan. World bank telah me released Logistic performance index dimana pada tahun 2016 ini Indonesia kembali mengalami penurunan beberapa parameternya adalah dikarenakan infrastruktur yang belum baik dan juga kurangnya sumberdaya manusia dibidang logistik.

Menurut saya permasalahan seperti infrastruktur, kemacetan, transportasi dan kurangnya sumberdaya manusia dibidang logistic dan supply chain adalah juga masalah yang banyak terjadi dibeberapa negara berkembang saat ini.
setelah 10 tahun bekerja dan hampir 7 tahun bekerja dibidang supply chain dan logisitik membuat saya semakin ingin mengetahui tentang keilmuan logistik dan supply chain, dan saya ingin memberikan sesuatu terhadap Negara, community dan juga dunia. sekalipun saat ini saya sudah menyelesaikan program master dibidang logistik pada tahun 2015 akan tetapi saya sangat tertarik ingin mengetahui ilmu logistik dari negara lain agar dapat menambah pengetahuan dan memberikan kontribusi yang lebih baik lagi bagi Inodnesia dan juga dunia
berbekal dari pengalaman saya kerja, pendidikan dibidang transportasi dan logistic yang saya tempuh di Indonesia saya yakin dengan menempuh pendidikan di Rotterdam university akan membantu saya untuk menguatkan kemampuan saya dalam menganalisa permasalahan yang terjadi dibidang transportasi logistic dan supply chain.

armed with my experience of work, education in the field of transport and logistics which I traveled in Indonesia I am sure with a university education at Rotterdam will help me to strengthen my skills in analyzing problems occurred in transportation logistics and supply chain.
