Pada awalnya kota Bandung sekitarnya secara tradisional merupakan kawasan pertanian, namun seiring dengan laju urbanisasi menjadikan lahan pertanian menjadi kawasan perumahan serta kemudian berkembang menjadi kawasan industri dan bisnis, sesuai dengan transformasi ekonomi kota umumnya. Oleh karena itu, Kota Bandung bagian Selatan yang memiliki permukaan tanah relatif datar dijadikan sebagai pusat pemerintahan, sedangkan di wilayah kota bagian Utara berbukit-bukit sehingga lahan pertanian disana tetap dipertahankan hingga sekarang.

Therefore, the southern part of Bandung has relatively flat ground surface was used as the seat of Government, while in the northern part of the city region is hilly, so that agricultural land there were maintained up to now.
