Jalan Setiabudi letaknya mulai dari ujung utara jalan Cihampelas sampai ke batas kota Bandung dengan Kabupten Bandung Barat. Nama Setiabudi berasal dari nama seorang doktor yang pada masa zaman hindia belanda tinggal di jalan ini. Nama aslinya ialah Douwes Dekker, seorang keturunan Belanda yang berjuang untuk kemerdekaan Indonesia di zaman penjajahan. Douwes Dekker atau Danudirja Setiabudi lahir di Pasuruan, Hindia Belanda, 8 Oktober 1879 dan meninggal di Bandung, Jawa Barat, 28 Agustus 1950 pada umur 70 tahun. Nama Danudirja Setiabudi sendiri merupakan nama samarannya ketika ia kembali ke Indonesia setelah kabur dari pembuangannya di Suriname agar tidak ditangkap oleh intelijen Belanda.
Douwes Dekker adalah seorang pejuang kemerdekaan dan pahlawan nasional Indonesia. Ia merupakan salah seorang peletak dasar nasionalisme Indonesia di awal abad ke-20, penulis yang kritis terhadap kebijakan pemerintah penjajahan Hindia Belanda, wartawan, aktivis politik, serta penggagas nama "Nusantara" sebagai nama untuk Hindia Belanda yang merdeka. Setiabudi adalah salah satu dari "Tiga Serangkai" pejuang pergerakan kemerdekaan Indonesia, selain dr. Tjipto Mangoenkoesoemo dan Suwardi Suryaningrat, yang secara bersama-sama mendirikan Indiscje Partij. Partai politik pertama di Indonesia pada tahun 1912.
