Dongeng biasanya terbagi menjadi tiga bagian yaitu pendahuluan, peristiwa atau isi dan penutup.[3] Pendahuluan merupakan kalimat pengantar untuk memulai dongeng .[3] Peristiwa atau isi merupakan bentuk kejadian-kejadian yang disusun besarkan urutan waktu.[3] Penutup merupakan akhir dari bagan cerita yang dibuat untuk mengakhiri cerita, kalimat penutup yang sering digunakan dalam dongeng,misalnya mereka hidup bahagia selamanya.[3]
