Kemajuan teknologi di era sekarang banyak mendorong munculnya gagasan-gagasan baru untuk menciptakan berbagai aplikasi yang mempermudah pekerjaan manusia khususnya dalam bidang surat menyurat seperti Sandy(2009) merancang aplikasi surat masuk dan keluar untuk PT. PLN (Persero) Sullutenggo dan Triyono (2013) membuat sistem informasi penataa usahawan arsip berbasis Web pada Kantor Pelayanan Perbendaharaan Negara Bengkulu.
Dari beberapa aplikasi yang berkembang, peneliti tertarik untuk membangun sebuah aplikasi reka data, yang mencakup surat masuk, surat keluar, nota dinas, dan perjalanan dinas berbasis java.
