Abdul mampu membuat Victoria yang kesepian karena ditinggal mati oleh suaminya tertarik padanya dari cara ia bercerita tentang budaya India, Taj Mahal, bahasa India, dan juga agamanya . Lalu Victoria menjadikan Abdul sebagai Munshi (guru) nya karena abdul dianggap cerdas dalam berpikir dan cakap dalam berbahasa. Ratu Victoria sangat tertarik dengan semua apa yang diajarkan abdul. Bahkan sang ratu belajar bahasa Urdu (versi islam) dengan abdul karena kemauan sang ratu.
