Alga coklat merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam laut yang keberadaannya sangat melimpah di laut Indonesia. Warna alga coklat berasal dari salah satu pigmen dominan yang terdapat dalam alga yaitu fukosantin, fukosantin memiliki sifat antioksidan yang kuat. Tujuan dari Karya Tulis Ilmiah ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara suhu, lama pengeringan dan proses ekstraksi terhadap senyawa fukosantin dengan aktivitas antioksidan. Pengeringan menggunakan metode oven dan aktivitas antioksidam di uji dengan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil). Hasil rendemen menunjukan nilai IC50 antioksidan 37,68-48,03 ppm pada suhu 500C selama 4 jam. Hasil ekstraksi dengan pelarut organik polar menunjukan bahwa pelarut metanol dapat mengekstrak fukosantin lebih optimal dibandingkan dengan etanol, DMSO, asetonitril dan aseton. Kandungan fukosantin dengan pelarut metanol adalah 2,6049 mg/g berat kering. Proses ekstraksi dengan pelarut metanol pada suhu 500C selama 4 jam dapat meningkatkan kadar senyawa fukosantin dan aktivitas antioksidan.
