Misalkan ketika kita ingin membeli

Misalkan ketika kita ingin membeli sate, kita berseru, “sate, sini!” dan si tukang sate akan segera datang menghampiri kita. Pada saat yang lain kita membeli es krim. Kita pun akan berseru, “es krim, kemari...!” dan si penjual es krim pun akan segera mendekati kita. Kita sebenarnya memanggil si tukang sate dan si penjual es krim itu karena kita akan membeli sate dan es krim yang mereka jual. Kalimat “sate, kesini!” dan “es krim, kemari!” adalah majaz ‘aqli yang merupakan bagian dari jenis majaz itu sendiri, yang dalam bahasa Indonesia dikenal dengan sebutan “metafora”. Karena sate dan es krim mustahil untuk mendengar dan berjalan. Tetapi yang dimaksud si pemanggil adalah orangnya yaitu si penjualnya, karena si penjualnya lah yang dapat mendengar dan berjalan, bukan sate atau es krim.
