This research aims to detect areas of the former land and forest fires in some regions in the Provinces of West Kalimantan using multiple index values derived from remote sensing data. The index that is used among other NDFI (Normalized Difference Fire Index) and MNDFI (Modified Normalized Difference Fire Index) that leverages the value of the reflektansi Canal 2 and 7. Research results show that the NDFI or MNDFI can be used to detect forest fires and land areas with either Normalize values assessed based on Distance (D) is more than 1. NDFI has value D of 6.244. The value of D MNDFI index increases with the percentage of MNDFI used IE MNDFI 2.5% of 6.374, MNDFI 5% of 6.590, MNDFI 7.5% of 6,915, and MNDFI 10% amounting to 6,917. Thus, MNDFI 10% is the best index that can be used to detect areas of the former land and forest fires in the region of West Kalimantan.
