Kedua trackpad di Steam Controller

Kedua trackpad di Steam Controller tersebut diposisikan di bagian kiri dan kanan controller, tempat yang biasa diisi oleh analog stick, d-pad, dan action button di controller standar. Kedua trackpad tersebut mengapit sebuah touch screen yang terdapat di bagian tengah controller. Untuk action button, Valve tetap menyediakan 4 buah action button (A, B, X, dan Y) serta memposisikannya di sekitar track pad yang ada.

Menurut Valve, controller ini akan kompatibel dengan berbagai game yang ada di Steam, sekalipun game tersebut tidak mendukung penggunaan game controller. Hal itu dimungkinkan karena Valve telah menyediakan “Legacy Mode” untuk controller tersebut sehingga game akan mengenalinya sebagai perangkat keyboard dan mouse biasa.
