Kategori mampu pun bermacam-macam. Orang yang hendak umroh harus mampu secara finansial, fisik maupun mental. Ibadah umroh juga merupakan pilar (Rukun) Islam, berkaitan dengan haji. Orang yang mengaku islam tulen, belum dikatakan sempurna islamnya sebelum melaksanakan haji. Namun bukan berarti semua yang belum berhaji bisa dikatakan belum sempurna islamnya.
