Zaman ini disebut Transisi period karena ada dua figure of literature, yaitu Chaucer dan Shakespeare.
Puisi
Penyair-penyair pada periode itu adalah John Lydgate seorang penterjemah cerita moral dan kebudayaan, Stephen Hawes seorang pencipta beberapa alegori, dan John Skelton seorang satiritis.
Suasana baru mulai terasa dalam kesusastraan Inggris dengan munculnya karya-karya ciptaan Sir Thomas Wyatt dan Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey. Keduanya adalah pencipta sajak –sajak lirik, dan menunjukkan pengaruh kesusastraan Italia baik dalam bentuk maupun tema. Wyatt adalaah penyair yang memasukkan bentuk soneta Italia ke dalam kesusastraan Inggris.

They are the creators of the rhymes – poems lyrics, and shows the influence of literature both in Italy as well as the theme. Wyatt is the poet who enter Italy to sonnet forms in literature United Kingdom.
