Penelitian ini mengkaji topik konflik sosial tokoh Maryam dalam novel Maryam. Konflik adalah proses sosial di mana orang perorangan atau kelompok manusia berusaha untuk memenuhi tujuannya dengan jalan menentang pihak lawan yang disertai dengan ancaman dan kekerasan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (i) mendeskripsikan struktur novel Maryam yang meliputi tokoh dan penokohan, alur, dan latar, dan (ii) mendeskripsikan konflik sosial yang dialami oleh tokoh Maryam dalam novel Maryam karya Okky Madasari. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kajian struktural dan pendekatan sosiologi sastra dengan teori konflik sosial yang dikembangkan oleh Soerjono Soekanato. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tiga teknik, yaitu, teknik studi pustaka, teknik simak, dan teknik catat. Selanjutnya, untuk menganalisis data-data yang telah terkumpul, digunakan metode analisis isi.
Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Deskripsi struktur novel Maryam karya Okky Madasari yang meliputi: tokoh dan penokohan, alur, dan latar. (2) Hasil penelitian berikutnya menunjukkan konflik sosial tokoh Maryam dalam novel Maryam karya Okky Madasari.
Dalam novel Maryam terdapat empat tokoh protagonis, yaitu, Maryam, Umar, Pak Khairdddin, dan Zulkhair. Keempat tokoh tersebut merupakan pelaku yang memegang karakter cerita dengan membawa ide-ide kebenaran pada permasalahan yang dihadapi. Sedangkan, tokoh antagonis dalam penelitian ini adalah Alam, Ibu Alam, Pak RT, Pak Haji, dan Gubernur.
Hasil kajian sosiologi sastra dengan teori pengembangan Soerjono Soekanto terhadap teori konflik sosial yang dialami tokoh Maryam mengungkapkan beberapa konflik sosial sebagai berikut: (1) Konflik karena perbedaan orang perorangan yang merupakan pendirian dan perasaan yang dapat menyebabkan bentrokan anatar orang perorangan. Pembagian konflik dalam tokoh Maryam yang meliputi: perbedaan antara individu dengan individu, perbedaan antara individu dengan kelompok, dan perbedaan antara kelompok dengan kelompok. (2) Konflik karena perbedaan kebudayaan merupakan perbedaan kepribadian dari orang perorangan yang tergantung dari pola-pola kebudayaan yang menjadi latar belakang pembentukan serta perkembangan kepribadian tersebut. Pembagian konflik perbedaan kebudayaan ini meliputi: kebudayaan khusus atas dasar kedaerahan, kebudayaan khusus atas dasar agama, dan kebudayaan khusus kelas sosial.

Indonesia's Literary Studies Program, Faculty Of Literature, Sanata Dharma University.This research examines the topic of social conflict in the novels protagonist Maryam Maryam. Conflict is a social process in which an individual or group of people tries to meet its goal of walking against the opposing side are accompanied by threats and violence. The purpose of this research is (i) describe the structure of a novel of Mary which includes characters and characterizations, plot, and setting, and (ii) describe the social conflicts experienced by the characters in the novels of Mary Maryam works Okky Madasari. This research use approach to the study of structural and sociological approach literature with social conflict theory developed by Soerjono Soekanato. Method of data collection in this study uses three techniques, namely, engineering study of the literature, see, and take note. Next, to analyze data that has been collected, used the method of the analysis of the contents. The results of this research are (1) the description of the structure of the novel is Maryam works Okky Madasari which include: characters and characterizations, plot, and setting. (2) the results of the research show the social conflicts of the next character in the novels of Mary Maryam works Okky Madasari.In the novel of Mary there are four protagonists, namely, Maryam, Umar, Mr. Khairdddin, and Zulkhair. The fourth character is the character who holds the perpetrators of the story by bringing ideas of truth on the issue at hand. Whereas, the antagonist in this study is the nature, mother nature, Mr. RT, Pak Haji, and Governor. Results of the study of literary theory development sociology Soerjono Soekanto against the theory of social conflict that plagued figure Maryam reveals some social conflict as follows: (1) Conflict due to differences of individual person which is the establishment and the feelings that could lead to clashes between individual people. Division of conflict in the character of Mary which includes: the difference between the individual and the individual, the difference between the individual with the group, and the differences between the groups with the group. (2) a conflict because of cultural differences is the personality differences of individual people who hung from the cultural patterns that become the background of the establishment and development of the personality. The Division of cultural difference conflict include: special culture on the basis of regional councils, special cultures on the basis of religion, and the culture-specific social classes.
