Mengacu pada judul novel yaitu Dracula, penulis telah memutuskan bahwa tema dari keseluruhan isi novel tersebut yaitu mengenai pembasmian terhadap dracula. Terbukti bahwa tokoh Jonathan yang merupakan seorang pengacara telah merasakan bagaimana menjadi tawanan di kastil Dracula dan setelah berhasil kabur dari kastil itu Jonathan mengalami sakit parah sehingga dia takut apabila bertemu dengan orang-orang yang mirip dengan Dracula. Selain Jonathan yang menjadi korban Dracula, Lucy dan ibunya menjadi korban Dracula, Lucy dan ibunya meninggal dunia, dan yang lebih mengharukan, Lucy menjadi vampire, sehingga dia memangsa anak kecil.
