Apa itu Watu Timbang Raung? Watu Timbang Raung yang terletak di wilayah Kengko-Rego, Desa Rego, Kecamatan Masang Pacar, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat adalah tempat mengadili orang yang memiliki utang.

Belum lama ini KompasTravel melakukan adventure di wilayah Utara Manggarai Barat dan mengunjungi Watu Timbang Raung. Dipandu oleh Matias Dandung, Benyamin serta sejumlah keluarga dari wilayah Rego kami menuju ke obyek wisata Watu Timbang Raung yang sudah pernah dikunjungi wisatawan dari Perancis itu.

Awalnya berangkat dari Kota Waelengga, ibu kota Kecamatan Kota Komba, Manggarai Timur, Senin (1/2/2016), menuju ke Ruteng, ibu kota Kabupaten Manggarai dengan menggunakan travel lokal.

Semalam tidur di rumah keluarga di Kota Ruteng. Lalu pagi Selasa (2/2/2016) bergegas menuju ke Terminal Mena untuk mengejar Oto Colt menuju ke wilayah Utara Manggarai Barat, tujuan Rego.

Tepat jam 07.00 Wita, sopir Oto Mulia Terang melajukan kendaraannya menuju ke wilayah Cancar, Golowelu, Wajur, dan makan siang di Pertigaan Noa.

Pertigaan Noa adalah tempat semua kendaraan berhenti untuk makan siang baik yang ke Ruteng, Terang maupun Rego. Ada sejumlah warung lokal yang menyediakan hidangan makan siang, makan malam bagi penumpang dan sopir serta kondektur.

Dari pertigaan Noa, saya bersama dengan pemandu lokal, Matias Dandung melintasi wilayah Utara Manggarai Barat dengan melewati sejumlah kampung serta pemandangan alam di kiri kanan jalan. Tujuan kami adalah ke Kampung SAR untuk menghadiri ritual adat, SOR WAE dari Mama Rosalia Jila yang meninggal dunia minggu lalu.

Selain itu, saya memiliki tujuan untuk mengabadikan serta mempromosikan Watu Timbang Raung yang menjadi bahan cerita secara turun temurun dari warga di Kabupaten Manggarai Barat. Keunikan batunya. Kisahnya yang misterius. Tak sia-siakan waktu itu untuk berpetualangan untuk berwisata ke Watu Timbang Raung.

Saat melintasi jalan raya Lintas Utara, dari kejauhan sudah terlihat keunikan Watu Timbang Raung serta kemegahannya yang berada di puncak gunung Hutan Rego. Saat itu pula, saya mengeluarkan kamera dari dalam tas dan langsung mengabadikannya.

Saya bersama dengan beberapa orang berjalan kaki di jalan raya di pinggir batu tersebut. Melihat keunikan dan kemegahan batu itu, saya terus mengabadikan dengan kamera. Sungguh unik batu tersebut. Sayangnya, minim promosi.

Sambil melihat keunikan batu tersebut, saya bersama dengan sejumlah warga menikmati suara burung yang masih terjaga dengan baik. Sesudah itu, saya menggali informasi dari beberapa warga terkait dengan kisah Watu Timbang Raung.

Mereka meminta saya untuk bertemu dengan mantan Kepala Desa Rego yang mengetahui kisahnya. Lalu, Kamis malam (4/2/2016) saya bertamu dengan rumah mantan kepala Desa. Saya disambut dengan ramah sesuai budaya setempat serta menyuguhkan saya kopi Arabika khas Kampung Rego.
