Kehadiran Superman/Clark Kent (Martin Richardson) benar-benar sanggup memberi rasa aman bagi warga kota. Superman selalu datang disaat-saat genting, dan hampir tak satupun tindakan kejahatan luput dari campur tangannya.

Seperti kala itu, Superman segera bergegas pergi meninggalkan tugas kewartawanannya ketika mengetahui ada bom besar yang akan meledak. Ia nekad mengadu nyawa dengan bom yang dipasang Alex Luthor (Paul Khanna), agar warga tidak terkena imbasnya.

Superman tidak sadar, kalau disekitar bom ada krypton yang bisa membuat tenaga supernya lenyap. Ia akhirnya terluka parah dan pecahan krypton melukai tubuhnya. Kostumnya robek besar dan darah mengalir di beberapa bagian tubuh.

Ia pun hanya bisa meringkuk di bawah selimut, sambil menunggu kekuatannya pulih kembali. Sementara di luaran, beredar luas kabar kalau Superman telah tewas. Para penjahat merasa mendapat angin untuk berbuat kejahatan kembali.

Rekan sekerja Superman di Daily Planet, Noels (Stacy Sobieski) merasa ada yang tidak beres dengan Clark. Ia pun nekat datang ke rumah Clark dan menemui lelaki itu sedang sekarat.

Clark tak bisa mengelak dan terpaksa mengakui kalau dirinya Superman. Noels langsung membantu Clark memulihkan diri. Darah di tubuhnya dibersihkan dan perlahan mengajak Superman mencoba kembali tenaga supernya. Sepasang kostum baru telah dipesan, untuk ganti baju yang telah tak berbentuk.

Setelah beberapa hari dengan tangan yang masih digips, Clark masuk kantor lagi. Ia cepat pulih di hari berikutnya dan sudah bisa bergerak bebas. Ia bahkan telah berhasil menyelamatkan beberapa orang yang coba ditodong penjahat. Tugasnya memburu gambar Superman langsung didapat dan harus didapatkan segera.

Di sisi lain, Alex sangat ingin membalas dendam pada Superman. Ia berencana menculik Louis yang tinggal di London. Ia menyangka Louis bisa membuat Superman bertekuk lutut.

Mendengar Superman yang akan pergi ke London, Noels diam-diam memesan tiket pesawat. Ia pun sampai di London dan melihat Clark jadi bulan-bulanan anak buah Alex.

Malang baginya, ia pun tertangkap dan di bawa ke suatu tempat. Ia menyaksikan Clark yang sudah babak belur dan dirinya sendiri teramcam bahaya.

Ludah yang ia semprotkan ke wajah Alex, membuat lelaki itu mencekiknya. Rintihannya didengar Superman yang membuat lelaki yang terus memukulinya gantian diikat tali.

Semua anak buah Alex terikat dan ia menjadi yang terakhir. Namun satu pisau berhasil melepas tali ikatan Alex dan ia langsung menusuk Noels dengan pisau.

Karena ingin menyelamatkan Noels, Clark membiarkan Alex kabur. Ia membawa Noels ke rumah sakit dan ia pun selamat. Setelah itu, Superman langsung menemui sang ibu, untuk menceritakan keadaan dirinya. Oleh sang ibu, kekuatan Superman dipulihkan dalam hitungan detik.

Film garapan Sutradara Gene Fallaize, tak seberuntung serial Superman terdahulu. Cerita yang tak terlalu menarik, membuat film ini sepi penonton.

Para pemain Superman juga banyak wajah baru, sehingga bagi penggemar lama butuh penyesuaian. Dari segi akting, para pemain tampak berusaha untuk profesional.

Sementara tindakan melepas penjahat yang melukai sang pacar, benar-benar sulit dimengerti. Film ini masih diisi adegan kising, karenanya tidak cocok ditonton anak-anak. hendri nova
