Arfaen berfikir di dalam hatinya bagaimana cara supaya ajaran agama Islam dapat menyebar luas di masyarakat karena pada saat itu agama Islam masih sangat asing sekali. Pada suatu saat dia pergi menuju suatu perkampungan di daerah Malangbong dan di tengah jalan dia menemukan suatu benda yang berbentuk panjang bulat terbuat dari bambu serat. Dengan tidak sadar maka benda itu dibawanya ke rumah dan bambu tersebut dibuat suatu alat yang bisa mengeluarkan bunyi. Lalu Arfaen mengumpulkan para santri dan mereka diperintahkan untuk membuat alat-alat lainnya yang terbuat dari bambu-bambu yang sudah tua untuk memadukan bunyinya dengan alat yang Arfaen buat tadi dan kemudian bambu-bambu tersebut disusun dibuat sedemikian rupa sehingga dapat mengeluarkan suara yang nyaring. Semua alat-alat itu dibunyikan sehingga terdengar irama musik.
