Untuk masa sekarang ini, yaitu Kemajuan Ilmu Pengetahuan Dan Teknologi (IPTEK) sudah banyak dilakukan dan dirasakan oleh masyarakat umum. Mereka menikmati fasilitas-fasilitas ataupun alat-alat yang dapat mempermudah serta mempercepat pekerjaan mereka. Contohnya televisi, zaman dahulu kita harus menekan tombol tombol yang menempel pada televisi tersebut, untuk memindah gelombang televisi, mengatur volume, serta menggunakan tombol tombol pengaturan yang lain. Namun sekarang tidak lagi, kita bisa mengendalikan atau mengatur fungsi fungsi yang ada pada televisi tersebut dari tempat kita duduk dengan menggunakan remote kontrol. Memang, di zaman modern seperti sekarang ini alat alat pengendali dari jarak jauh harus bisa diciptakan dan dikembangkan agar kita bias mengendalikan sesuatu pekerjaan manusia menjadi lebih mudah dan lebih cepat. Sebagai contoh dalam sistem buka tutup pintu gerbang dan garasi masih banyak menggunakan sistem buka tutup secara manual, yakni dengan mendorong dan menarik pintu. Alat-alat pengendali jarak jauh yang berbasis frekuensi dapat dikembangkan agar kita bisa mengendalikan sesuatu dengan mudah dan cepat yang mempermudah dan mempercepat pekerjaan. Pada kaitannya dengan Tugas Akhir ini, sistem komunikasi yang akan dibahas adalah sistem perhubungan radio, yaitu sistem pemancar dan penerima yang nantinnya akan digunakan dalam mengendalikan pintu gerbang dan garasi. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut di atas, maka penulis maksudkan agar nantinya kita bisa mengendalikan pintu gerbang dengan mudah dan cepat.
