Berhubungan dengan materi yang diajarkan, materi terkesan berulang-ulang. Guru tidak menggunakan materi pendukung dalam pembelajaran listening ini. Materi yang diajarkan hanya terpaku pada course book. Padahal, pemberian materi pendukung dan materi yang tepat tentu akan memberikan hasil yang optimal. Sebagai pertimbangan, siswa akan lebih mudah menyerap informasi dari kejadian atau fenomena yang terdekat dengan lingkungan mereka. Hal ini dikarenakan kejadian kejadian tersebuat adalah sesuatu yang biasa mereka dengar. Misalnya berita dari televisi atau radio, prakiraan cuaca, instruksi, pengumuman, lagu, dan sebagainya.
