Galangal (Alpinia galangal L.) belongs to the one member of the family Zingiberaceae. Galangal is used to treat diseases caused by infection with bacteria, and fungi. Part of ginger is often used is the root rhizome (Wohlmuth, 2008). Galangal containing class of flavonoids, phenols, and terpenoids which have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis (Yuharmen et al., 2002). In addition, galangal also contain essential oils that contain the compound eugenol, cineol, and methyl cinnamate (Buchbaufr, 2003).
