Dengan teknik jigsaw, siswa dituntut untuk memahami sendiri dengan cara berdiskusi dengan teman sekelompok mereka. Dan sang guru tidak memberikan pengarahan tentang materi, apakah pemahaman mereka sudah benar sesuai dengan yang dimaksud atau belum? Sepertinya sang guru perlu melakukan pengecekan dan pembenaran atas pemahaman siswa. Karena dalam teknik ini siswa hanya akan memahami dengan berdiskusi bukan dengan pendengaran guru secara langsung. Para siswa mungkin belum terlalu mengerti dengan beberapa materi baru.
