Suffering a miserable childhood to adulthood do not need to be faced with the bitter, but can be faced with humor that can laugh at themselves. As well as a popular memoir by Frank McCourt result, an Irish expatriate in the United States. Memoirs which won the Pulitzer award was later appointed director Alan Parker in the movie titled the same.
This novel tells the story of how Frank McCourt face twisted family poverty from birth to adulthood. Born in Brooklyn, United States in 1930 in a family of Irish, Frank was the eldest of the couple Angela and Malachy McCourt,
Angela and Malachy were Irish immigrants who emigrated to the United States to seek a better life. Unfortunately, their lives have not improved. Instead Malachy became unemployed while Angela continues to bear children as a junior Malachy, Michael and Alphie. In 1935 Angela gave birth to her daughter, the fifth child in the family. But the child died shortly after birth and it encourages Malachy took his family back to his native country, Ireland.
They then settled in Limerick, Ireland town that is also inhabited by many of their relatives. Unfortunately the life of Frank and his family worsening. Because background Malachy originating from Northern Ireland so it is difficult to get a job there. If it was to get a job, Malachy rather spend the money to get drunk so that Angela became depressed and had to rely on the mercy of relatives and church. Although in the midst of suffering and poverty of whack, Frank still get through it with a smile and humor.
