Arisan adalah kegiatan mengumpulkan uang atau barang yg bernilai sama oleh beberapa orang kemudian diundi di antara mereka untuk menentukan siapa yang memperolehnya, undian dilaksanakan dalam sebuah pertemuan secara berkala sampai semua anggota memperolehnya.Arisan biasanya di laksanakan oleh kalangan wanita, diadakanya arisan adalah untuk mempererat tali pesaudaraan dan membatu sesama saat kesusahan. Akan tetapi arisan juga memiliki sisi negatif karena biasanya arisan bersifat memaksa seseorang untuk datang dan membayar uang arisan.
Pada dasarnya arisan memiliki banyak macam, contohnya saja arisan yang di laksanakan oleh ibu-ibu RT (Rukun Tetangga) dari Dukuh Grogol, Desa Mergodadi, Kecamatan Seyegan Kabupaten Sleman Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta,Indonesia arisan yang mereka lakukan dengan cara menjadikan arisan mereka bukan hanya untuk undian,akan tetapi arisan yang mereka buat adalah menggunakan uang dari arisan untuk simpan pinjam. Arisan bukan hanya untuk mempererat tali persaudaraan atar warga akan tetapi juga dapat membatu setiap warga yang memiliki kesusahan dalam hal ekonomi , contohnya saja pada warga yang membutuhakn uang secara cepat tanpa pergi ke bank dan tidak dengn bunga yang banyak warga tersebut dapat memijam di arisan.
Disamping itu arisan sekaligus simpan pinjam juga dapat membantu orang yang terkena musibah, hasil dari bunga dapat digunakan untuk membatu orang yang sedang terkena musibah,berduka ataupun uang dapat digunakan untuk membeli perkakas RT, seperti gelas,sendok dan piring.jadi arisan sekaligus simpan pinjam ini sangat membantu masyarakat yang membutuhan uang dan membutuhkan bantuan.
