Kata Qira’ah berasal dari akar kata

Kata Qira’ah berasal dari akar kata qoro’a, yakro’u, qiro’atan yang artinya membaca, bacaan. Secara bahasa kata ini berasal dari ayat pertama dari wahyu al-Quran yakni “iqro”. Kata iqro dalam ayat tersebut adalah fi’il amr mengandung arti perintah untuk membaca. Makna iqro/qira’ah dalam ayat tersebut bukan sebatas harfiyah yakni membaca satu tulisan saja tetapi suatu perintah untuk membaca, meneliti, dan memahami. Sedangkan objek yang harus dibaca adalah tentang manusia sebagai makhluk dan Allah sebagai khalik (rabb). Jadi perintah qira’ah menurut ayat tersebut mengandung makna proses membaca, meneliti (mengkaji) dan memahami (mengenal) segala sesuatu tanpa batas.
