Versi lain muncul dari ahli Sastra Sunda yang mengatakan Baraga adalah nama jalan di tepi sungai, sehingga berjalan menyusuri sungai disebut “ngabaraga” karena kawasan Braga sendiri berada di tepi sungai Cikapundung Ada beberapa toko dan restoran yang dibangun pada zaman Hindia Belanda dan masih berdiri tegak hingga saat ini yaitu Braga Permai dan Sumber Hidangan. Braga Permai adalah sebuah restoran yang sudah berdiri sejak tahun 1918 dengan nama Maison Bogerijen dengan bangunan gaya tradisional Eropa yang dibangun oleh L.Van Bogerijen. Awalnya Braga Permai terletak di sisi timur simpang Bragaweg namun pada tahun 1923 Braga Permai pindah ke tengah-tengah Bragaweg atau lokasi yang sekarang tetapi masih dengan rupa yang sama. Walaupun tidak menggunakan label khusus sebagai toko roti namun sejak zaman Hindia Belanda, Braga Permai juga menyediakan roti yang dapat dikatakan sebagai sarapan para orang-orang Belanda.
