Joglo, sekedar othak-athik gathuk, mungkin berasal dari kata Jogja-Solo. Hal ini sangat logis mengingat dinasti penerus Mataram yang berkedudukan di keraton Jogja dan Solo merupakan trah utama yang menjadi garda terdepan dalam pelestarian adat dan budaya Jawa.
