Kurangnya kapasitas (pengetahuan dan ketrampilan) petani kopi, dikombinasikan dengan kurangnya jaminan mekanisme pasar dalam industri kopi, telah menyebabkan produksi kopi yang rendah sehingga menghasilkan pendapatan yang rendah pula. Hal ini telah mendorong para petani untuk memperluas lahan pertanian melalui perambahan dan penebangan hutan (khususnya TNKS), sehingga penggunaan lahan tidak berkelanjutan dan mendorong ketidakseimbangan ekosistem dalam lansekap Kerinci yang berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan emisi gas rumah kaca.

The lack of capacity (knowledge and skills) of coffee farmers, combined with a lack of guarantee of market mechanisms in the coffee industry, the coffee production has led to low so low income producing anyway.
