Rohingya merupakan sebuah kelompok etnis Indo-Arya dari daerah Rakhine atau kita kenal sebagai Rohang atau Rohingya di Burma. Dari website wikipedia menjelaskan bahwa sejarawan lain mengklaim etnis Rohingya ini bermigrasi ke Myanmar dari Bengal yang berlangsung saat pemerintahan Inggris di Burma, dan pada batas tertentu perpindahan itu terjadi setelah kemerdekaan Burma di tahun 1971.
Muslim dilaporkan telah menetap di negara bagian Rakhine (juga dikenal sebagai Arakan) sejak abad ke-16, meskipun jumlah pemukim Muslim sebelum pemerintahan Inggris tidak tidak diketahui dengan pasti.

From wikipedia's website explains that other historians claim ethnic Rohingya is migrated from Bengal to Myanmar which took place when the Government of the United Kingdom in Burma, and in particular limit the displacement that occurred after Burmese independence in 1971. Muslim is reported to have settled in Rakhine State (also known as the Arakan) from the 16th century, though the number of Muslim settlers before the Government of the United Kingdom is not not known with certainty.
