Banyak hal yang mempengaruhi pengetahuan seseorang, termasuk pengetahuan tentang antibiotik. Tujuan dari karya tulis ilmiah ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik Sefalosporin. Telah dilakukan penelitian di Universitas Gajah Mada Yogyakarta oleh Rizky dkk, jumlah 150 responden mengenai pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik dengan tingkat pengetahuan rendah. Penggunaan antibiotik Sefalosporin pasien anak pneumonia dan diare akut di RS pemerintah Yogyakarta oleh Maria dan Aris jumlah 249 pasien, pasien pediatrik ISPA di RSUD Karanganyar oleh Mega dan Suci dari 32 pasien, diare akut anak di RSU Negara Bali oleh Arifani dkk, jumlah 42 pasien dan terapi antibiotik pada pasien diare akut di Rumah Sakit Banyumanik Semarang oleh Risha dan Akroman, jumlah 73 pasien. Hasil dari penelitian tersebut UGM Yogyakarta 12%, RS pemerintah Yogyakarta 29,1% (Seftazidim 9,6%), RSUD Karanganyar Sefalosporin 77% (Sefotaksim 65%), RSU Negara Bali antibiotik Sefalosporin 97,62%, dan RS Banyumanik Semarang Sefalosporin 98% (Sefotaksim 42%). Dari hasil penelitian tersebut bahwa pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik cukup baik, serta dilihat dari seluruh penggunaan antibiotik di rumah sakit yang paling banyak digunakan adalah Sefotaksim, antibiotik Sefalosporin generasi ketiga. Telah banyak penelitian pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik, tetapi untuk pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik Sefalosporin secara khusus belum ada.
