karakter adalah pelaku yang mengemban peristiwa dalam cerita rekaan sehingga peristiwa itu menjalin suatu cerita. sedangkan cara sastrawan menampilkan tokoh disebut penokohan ( aminudin, 1984:85). tokoh dalam karya rekaan selalu mempunyai sifat, sikap, tingkah laku atau watak-watak tertentu. pemberian watak pada tokoh suatu karya oleh sastra disebut perwatakan.
