Eksperimen yang paling sederhana dan sering digunakan yaitu spektrum COSY. Puncak-puncak pada spektrum COSY merupakan pasangan dari proton-proton yang saling bertetangga. Korelasi biasanya terjadi antara proton geminal atau proton visinal (2 atau 3 ikatan) dengan coupling pada range dari 3 sampai 15 Hz.
