4. Classification by type of herbicide Translocation in Plants
In general, herbicides can be divided into two groups, namely contact herbicide (not translocated) and systemic (translocated).
a. Contact herbicide
can contact herbicides control weeds by turning off the affected part weeds / direct contact with herbicides because nature is not translocated herbicides or weed is not discharged in the body. The more organs affected weed herbicides, the better the workings of the herbicide. Therefore, contact herbicides are generally applied with high spray volumes (600-800 L ha-1) so that the entire surface of the weeds can be wetted. Herbicide working power is less good when applied to weeds which have breeding ground organs, such as tubers (puzzle) or rhizomes (reeds) because that section can not be reached by the herbicide, or buds on the grass-covered roads by the leaf midrib. While the advantages are fast acting power visible. These herbicides are generally applied selective contacts, such as oksifluorfen, oksadiazon, and propani, and some others are not selective herbicides such as paraquat and glufosinate.
