Gedung Sate merupakan karya arsitek J. Gerber yang memadukan kontruksi barat dengan gaya arsitektur lokal. Gedung ini berdiri di atas lahan seluas 27.990,859 m² dengan tema bangunannya adalah Rennaisance Italia. Bentuk atapnya tiga susun seperti atap pura di Bali. Bagian depan yang merupakan pintu gerbang utama, dihias ornamen yang terpengaruh gaya Thailand. Jendela-jendela gedung berukuran besar dengan tema Moor Spanyol, sehingga menambah penerangan ruangan. Interiornya diperkaya dengan hiasan kaca patri dalam paduan warna yang serasi.
