Indonesian education system is divided into two levels, namely formal and non-formal. Formal education is divided into three levels, namely, primary education, secondary, and tertiary. Primary education begins in elementary school, secondary education begins from the first middle school and tertiary education starts from high school to university.
In 2014, education in Indonesia is very alarming because when national exams conducted a lot of fraud with the leakage of question and answer key. This resulted in the average value of graduation decreased because many students who do not pass the exam as a result of using the answer key that has spread. However, in 2015 the average value of graduation rose to 0.3 points and the results of the national exam is not a graduation requirement in order to proceed to university.
