Pola asuh di lingkungan keluarga yang antara lain bertujuan membina karakter anak, pada umumnya dilakukan bersama-sama oleh ayah dan ibu. Namun, ketika ibu tidak ada di rumah, secara otomatis tanggung jawab pengasuhan anak beralih sepenuhnya kepada ayah, yang juga masih berstatus sebagai pencari nafkah bagi keluarganya. Pengasuhan anak di lingkungan keluarga harus terus berlangsung, meskipun tanpa kehadiran seorang ibu.
