Blending adalah proses pembentukan kata baru (portmanteau) yang merupakan kombinasi dari dua atau lebih bagian kata yang mana arti dari kata baru tersebut merupakan kombinasi dari arti atau makna kata-kata asalnya. jadi blending merupakan cara pembentukan sebuah kata baru, seperti pada advertainment merupakan kata baru yang terbentuk dari dua kata advertisenment dan intertainment. Dan dalam penggunaannya pun kata advertainment mengandung arti dari dua kata asalnya advertisement dan intertainment.
